2021 ROUND 5 PREVIEW

Round 5 AGV HELMETS AUSTRALIA WA State Road Racing Championships at Collie Motorplex

Sunday 10th of October will see the running of the AGV Helmets Australia WA State Road Racing Championships on the Collie Motorplex Long Track. With a good entry list the spectators should be treated to a great day’s racing, with fine weather predicted and a top temperature of 21c.

As always the B Grade race will start the day’s proceedings and, with a field of 20 riders set to greet the starter, there is sure to be plenty of action. The Round 4 winner Lachlan Hickey (TwoFour Tiling Kawasaki ZX-6) will be keen to keep the momentum going and win again to increase his lead in the series. A couple of riders who are likely to challenge him are Raymond Kleyn (Go Moto Store Kawasaki ZX-10) and Jake Wilson (Yamaha R1) who finished the last round’s race in second and third respectively.

In the Triton Electrical Superbike Championship Sam Clarke (RS36 Suzuki GSXR 1000) will be a hard man to beat. He loves the Collie circuit and will be keen to keep his winning streak going. He won’t have things all his own way though, with Championship leader Ben Stronach (VRT Signs Yamaha R1) who would love nothing more than to put a stop to that streak to increase his overall championship lead over his younger brother Cameron Stronach (C&S Mining Ducati Panigale). Third in the championship is Adam Senior (Senior Engineering Yamaha R1). None of the above can afford to relax for a second with the likes of Rob Fannin (DCI Yamaha R1), Josh Mathers (4ward Fabrication Kawasaki AZ-10) and Warren French (Go Moto Store Kawasaki ZX-10) snapping at their heels.

In the Cullys Yamaha Supersport Championship Tommy King (Keen Edge Construction Kawasaki ZX-6) will be hoping to repeat his round 4 win to narrow the gap to Bronson Pickett(JW Moto Parts Yamaha R6), who holds a small 11 point advantage and would love nothing more than to go one better than his 2020 runners-up place. These two will go head to head at the front of the field, while Lachlan Hickey (TwoFour Motorsports Kawasaki ZX-6) will be doing all he can to spoil their party after his very good fourth round. Andrew Biffen (Go Moto Store Yamaha R6) and Paul Joshua (Dave the great 125 champ Yamaha R6) cannot be discounted and are quite capable of causing an upset.

The Professional Printers Sidecar Championship for the main part will be a battle between three outfits at the front of the eight outfit field. Defending champion Dillan McDermott/Corey Blackman have set themselves as the pairing to beat, but will come under increasing pressure from the two hard chargers from the Rick Hanger stable in Graeme Evans/ Robert Dillon and Darren Nash/ Ash Shield. You can never discount the pair of Murray Stronach/Steve Marshall when the chips are down.

The GoMoto Store Production Championship will be a battle of the young guns, it is just a question of which one wins on the day. Jordan White (Go Moto Store Kawasaki Ninja 400), William Wasley (Jetts Averley Yamaha R3), Ethan Thompson (JB Racing Kawasaki Ninja 300), Jayden Martin (PTT lubricants Yamaha R3) and Calvin Moylan(Pickett Family Motorsport Yamaha R3) are all more than capable of winning it is just a matter of who steps up on the day. Add to them Paddy Brown (LPB Industries Kawasaki Ninja 300) Francesco Bietto( Yamaha R3) and you have the makings of three fantastic action filled races.

The Senior Engineering Junior Road Racing Championship was cut to two races due to the atrocious weather when they last raced with the MCRCWA. Ethan Thompson (Snap Fitness Yamaha R15) won both races ahead of Calvin Moylan (Major Luck Lottery Centre Yamaha R15) with two second places. Moylan has now moved up to the Production Championship and won’t be contesting this round. Bruce Oliver (Yamaha R15) and Jack Dowling (BanhamsWA Yamaha R15) shared the minor placings on the day. With some fine weather and the tightness of the Collie circuit, we are looking forward to some close racing from the junior field.

In the Rick Gill Motorcycles Clubman Steve Kelly (Perth Heavy Tow Honda CBR 1000RR) won all three races at Round 4 and is the man to beat again. Warren French (GoMoto Store Kawasaki ZX-10) will be looking to go one better than his three second placings. Christopher Fitzgerald (Kawasaki ZX-10) and Aaron Simonsen (Yamaha R6) each grabbed a minor podium placing and will be looking to repeat that at Collie.

Spectator entry is free for Round 5 at Collie Motorplex and there are plenty of great places to view the on track action!
