About Motor Cycle Racing Club of WA (MCRCWA)
The Motor Cycle Racing Club of WA Inc. (MCRCWA) is the premier promoter of motorcycle road racing in Western Australia. Road race related activities are also run including rider coaching at our RidedaysWA courses, along with tuning days and social events.
The Club is one of the oldest road racing Clubs in Australia, running road races in Western Australia since the 1950's. The Club membership tallies around the 300 member mark per year with up to 130 riders racing in our State Championship Rounds held at Wanneroo Raceway & Collie Motorplex.
The Club was formed in 1955 and has continued to go from strength to strength due to a number of enthusiastic volunteers over many years. In the early days the Club ran events at Caversham (an old airfield circuit out in the Swan Valley) and also many 'around the houses street circuits' in country towns during the 1950's to the early 1990's – from Albany in the south, Geraldton in the north and Kalgoorlie/Boulder in the east.
In 1968 Wanneroo Raceway, a purpose-built race track was opened. This circuit is operated by the Western Australian Sporting Car Club (WASCC), a bitumen circuit located approximately 26kms north of Perth. It has a short circuit of 1.76km and a long circuit of 2.4 kms which is run in a clockwise direction.
In 1982 the Club purchased their own premises in Wangara. This is where the clubrooms are located and are open on Friday's from 6pm till late for an after work drink.
The Club caters for a wide range of competitors from age 11 (Junior Class) to the late 60's. Both solo and sidecar machines compete in various classes with 6/8 race meetings per year.
The Club prides itself in providing competition, practice and rider coaching and training in a safe and controlled environment under the guidance of Accredited & Volunteer Officials and Coaches.
RidedaysWA Coaching is not only a way to obtain a Competition Race Licence but also is a valuable opportunity for street riders to experience the thrill of riding on a race circuit and at the same time gaining valuable knowledge and experience improving their skills for on the road.
The MCRCWA has figured prominently in the staging of several rounds of the National Australian Road Race Championships over past years, but due to the vastness of Australia and the long distance travel, private promoters controlling the Australian Rounds dropped WA off the National Calendar.
The Club is affiliated with Motorcycling Australia ('MA') the national controlling body of motorcycle sport in Australia via our State body, Motorcycling WA ('MWA').
