Presidents Update 14/06/2023

To All our MCRCWA Club members and volunteer Officials

Attached you will find the Race Report for Round 2 of the 2023 State Championships held at Collie on May 28th. We acknowledge not only all our competitors but our volunteer Officials who travelled down from Perth and those that came locally from Collie and Bunbury – thank you all for supporting this round, a great team effort.

After a successful Round 2, and with the cancellation of the June 11 Round 3, we wanted to give you all an update before we head into the “Winter Break”.

Insurance & Carco.com.au Raceway.

We’ve had confirmation that as part of the annual insurance renewal process undertaken by MA / MAIL, they have gone to market with an increase in the Public Liability Insurance specifically for Carco.com.au Raceway (while all other venues remain at the existing level). It is currently assumed that this will be successful and the most cost-effective option, so the running of our dates at Carco.com.au Raceway post MA insurance renewal (October) should be going ahead. This obviously leaves a few dates pre-October that we are still unsure about, and the Club is still following up the options for top-up insurance, as well as standalone insurance for these events, however we haven’t had anything from our contacts to work with yet.

Replacement Dates – State Championship Round.

With the uncertainty of pre-October dates, MCRCWA has consulted with and secured a date on the 17th of September at Collie Motorplex (for Round 3), which for the moment will be our first competition event after our winter break. Thanks to Champions Ride Days (previously having both the Sat & Sun of that weekend), they have allowed us to grab the Sunday for our competition event. This will see as a minimum, there will be 5 Rounds in our state Championship for 2023. We continue to look at other date opportunities to see how we can adapt. MCRCWA will also need to get together with HCMC and SupermotoWA to review the Junior Road Racing Championship to establish the effect as well.

Other News:

Congratulations to Abbie Cameron for being awarded the MWA Women’s Recognised Racer at this year’s MWA AGM. Abbie was recognised for her efforts being the first West Australian to complete a full season of the Oceanic Junior Cup, as well as her wins at the 2022 TTC Terra Challenge.

In the next couple of months, we have several club members heading interstate to compete at other events – Ben Stronach and Sam Clarke head to Sydney Motorsport for the 5 Hour Endurance race to be held on the weekend of July 1 and 2. A large contingent of riders also will be heading to Darwin for the Terra event – July 31 – August 7, plus those possibly attending the ASBK round at Morgan Park – Calvin Moylan, Dan Hughes. And its rumoured there are 4 sidecars heading to Tailem Bend in July for a race round. We wish everyone safe racing.

The Competition Committee is already starting to throw around idea’s for season 2023. If you have any outlandish idea’s or suggestions (or even minor suggestions for improvements), don’t hesitate to contact them for consideration. As a reminder the Competition Committee are: Nick Favazzo, Dain Hutton, Les McGrath, Ben Stronach, Adam Senior, Ian Reddin, Colin Cameron, Reece Southern, Ian Reddin.

In closing thank you to all our 2023 Sponsors for their ongoing support – please support these businesses – they are listed on the race review report.

Otherwise, have a fantastic winter break, and we hope to continue our conversations and updates at the end of July.

Regards
