Getting A Road Race Licence

To obtain a MA National Competition Licence for Road Racing you are required to carry out the following:

Attend an  MCRCWA Racecraft course

Solos - Attend 2 of our Racecraft Courses ‘An Introduction to Road Racing" held at Barbagallo Raceway.

Sidecars - Drivers and Passengers you are required to afford 2 to 3 Tuning days prior to being tested by a registered Club Official. Basically the following also relates to Sidecar competitors:

Go for a Licence Test

Once you feel confident you can test for your national Competition Licence.
Licence testing is held at approximately 4:00pm or the afternoon of each Racecraft Course.
Advise the Racecraft Coach at sign-on on the day that you wish to test.

Previous Licence Holders

If you have recently held an MA Competition Licence (but it has expired more than 12 months ago) you will be required to attend a Tuning Day (held on the same days as Racecraft Courses) and retest prior to reapplying for your licence renewal and entering a race meeting.
A One Day Licence will be issued to you at sign-on/ machine examination.  

Holding a Licence From Another Discipline?

Or if you currently hold a licence for motocross with an option for road racing you will be required to attend a Tuning Day (hold on the same days as Racecraft Courses) prior to entering your first race meeting.

The Licence Test

Book in at your 2nd or 3rd Racecraft Course . The cost is no charge.
The test consists of on-track assessment and a general race rule questionnaire.
The on track assessment will be carried out by one of the clubs approved licence testers organised by the Racecraft coach.
The tester will accompany you out on the track, follow you and note your level of expertise including entry and exit from the circuit, racelines taken, cornering and braking skills and your composure at passing and being passed.
The tester will debrief you after the test.

Complete the Motorcycling Australia Western Australia (MAWA) forms.

Once you’ve passed you will be issued with the relevant paperwork for processing.
