The Funeral for Anita Fellowes was held Friday 4th August 2017 at Pinnaroo.
Anita's family would like to thank all who came to farewell her and thank all who rode and formed her guard of honour.
It is with a very heavy heart we notify Club members, friends and supporters of the passing of our long-time member and friend to all.
Anita, has been a core member and volunteer with the Club for over 35 years. A welcoming voice and smile to all our RidedaysWA participants, always making sure everyone was looked after.
Anita’s initial involvement with motorcycles was her and late husband Frank’s involvement with the AJS motocross club back in the early 70’s volunteering in a variety of roles from timing, canteen and secretarial duties. In the late 70’s they both became involved with road racing and again Anita quickly got involved with the MCRC at both Barbagallo Raceway and numerous country circuits around WA. Anita lap scoring and Frank Commentating. In early 2000 Anita joined another club stalwart Hilary Adams in the Club Canteen at Barbagallo preparing and serving their homemade food to our members, competitors, officials and followers. On race days not only helping out preparing lunches for officials but also supporting the Race Control team and Timing as a lap scorer. In about 2008 Anita took over managing the Club Canteen from Hilary Adams and carried on for many more years arriving early in the mornings at the track in the trusty “falcon Wagon” with Frank loaded up with the days food and drink. Providing volunteer officials lunches each race day in McCracken House was a ritual for all.
In 2004 Anita (along with Frank) were made Life Members of the MCRC, an honour she thoroughly deserved. They both continued on tirelessly volunteering at all club events until 2007 when they “semi-retired” and became grey nomads. Sadly, their travels were cut short by Frank’s illness from which he passed away in November 2009. Soon after Anita returned to the Club involving herself with anything that needed doing.
In 2012 Anita started volunteering at the Club Office in Wangara helping out with admin work and RidedaysWA bookings remaining in this role until early 2016 when first diagnosed with a brain tumour. This was not to deter her, and with her amazing strength and positive manner some months later when she was allowed to drive again Anita returned to the office for a few hours a week loving the catch up with her road racing family. But unfortunately, the tumour returned earlier this year. She fought a great battle with dignity until the end, passing away early hours of Thursday 27th July.
Our condolences to Anita’s family, son Ewen and daughter Lynda family and many grandchildren.
